Columns & Arches

Columns can be classical, usually with an entasis on the upper two thirds, and having pedestals and caps, with a plain face or flutes, or can be parallel in more contemporary situations. When made in fibrous plaster or GRG these can be made in two half sections and used to encase support sections such as steel stanchions. We have had requests for this type of work in the ball rooms of ocean going cruise ships. Fibrous plaster has good fire resistance.

Arches can be formed in fibrous plaster or glass reinforced gypsum (GRG) from parts of an ellipse,  or  parts of circles, with side sections, springing sections, and key stone features, as required, and are used at openings in buildings, such as walk ways, doors, and windows.
